This policy explains what information SONU collects, why we collect it, and how we handle it. We believe in minimal data: we collect as little as possible and store it only as long as needed. If anything here is unclear, please email [email protected].
1. Information we do not collect
Reading articles, taking quizzes, and searching the encyclopedia work without any account and without revealing your identity. We do not require registration for any public content, and we do not build advertising profiles of our readers.
2. Technical and log data
Like most websites, our hosting provider may record basic technical data (such as your IP address, browser type, device type, and pages visited, including timestamps) for security, diagnostics, and performance. This data is used only for those purposes and is not sold or shared for advertising.
3. Third-party services
The on-demand machine translation feature sends selected article text to a third-party translation service. Only the text you choose to translate is sent, and we do not store it. If the site uses analytics or advertising scripts, they are described here and can be controlled through your browser; no additional trackers are embedded beyond what is necessary for the service to function.
4. Contact data
If you write to us, we use your email address and message only to reply and to resolve your query. We keep correspondence only as long as needed, and we never add you to a marketing list without your explicit consent.
5. Cookies and local storage
The site does not use advertising or tracking cookies. Local storage may be used for the admin panel session (if you are an authorised editor) and for remembering your translation preferences on your own device. You can clear this data at any time from your browser settings.
6. Children’s privacy
SONU is an educational resource used by learners of all ages, including children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children beyond what they themselves send us in a message, and we encourage parents and teachers to supervise minors’ use of the site.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you, and to object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, email us at [email protected]. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.
8. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date above. Questions? Email [email protected].
